We took Charles and Banda to the main office for World Bible School. There we met with John Reese and discussed how to get Portuguese WBS started in Angola. Here they are holding the complete set of Portuguese WBS courses. They will be taking a huge suitcase full of these courses back to Angola with them when they leave.
Banda told me that every morning when he wakes up there are 5 things that he desires. The first is his God, the second is his wife, I forgot what three and four were, but number five was to visit a Zoo. So we took Banda to the Fort Worth Zoo.
After church at the Northern Arizona Church of Christ in Flagstaff we set off to go see The Grand Canyon. It was the first time for all three of us. Charles and I really enjoyed the beauty and vastness of the canyon. We did a little bit of hiking while Banda sat in the car. Once he had seen it he was "finished" and ready to go home.
Other than a short overnight stopover about four years ago it has been entirely too long since I've returned to my old stomping grounds. This morning after worshiping at Richland Hills Church of Christ I am off to Colorado Springs. Growing up, I lived in The Springs for almost four years, much longer than anywhere else I ever lived. Only 11 hours or so before I'll be back and this time I get to spend over a week. I can't wait to do some hiking in the thin air and to drive around in the Rockies.
This weekend Missions Resource Network celebrated their 10th anniversary of helping equip churches and mission teams to plant churches around the world. They have been working with us as we are preparing for and planning our move to Angola. Friday night they asked us to come to their benefit dinner in Dallas. It was a great opportunity to meet new contacts and potential partners in ministry for the future. It's hard to believe that after 7 years this Angola thing is actually starting to happen.
